Our crypreserved human monocyte-derived macrophages (hMDM) are convenient and easy-to-handle. The thawed cells plate into all tissue culture vessel formats and can be maintained as adherent, biologically functional cultures for several weeks. Optionally, user-customizable activation of the cells can be performed.
Cryopreserved human macrophages are produced from monocytes in our well-proven M2 Macrophage Generation Media XF and are available as non-activated, fully qualified M2- (M-CSF-) polarized cells. After 9-10 days of differentiation, the M2 macrophages are cryopreserved using our proprietary, protein-free, and animal-component-free freezing medium, Cryo-SFM or Cryo-SFM Plus. Each cryo vial contains more than 1.5 million or 5 million viable cells after thawing, respectively.
Our M2 Macrophages are now also available from HLA-typed donors.
Figure 1.Culture of our cryopreserved human macrophages. The macrophages can be directly used for experiments after thawing and plating. Optional: activation of polarized M1-/M2 macrophages 24h before assay.
Figure 2.Flow cytometric analysis of our cryopreserved Human M1 and M2 Macrophages. M1 macrophages exhibit a CD68+ (99,74%) and CD80+ (83,33%) marker expression profile, typical for M1 macrophages (upper row). M2 macrophages exhibit a CD68+ (99,72%) and CD163+ (94,91%) marker expression profile, typical for M2 macrophages (lower row).
