Follicle dermal papilla cells are specialized mesenchymal cells located at the base of the hair follicle, where they play a central role in regulating follicle development and the hair growth cycle. Through epithelial–mesenchymal cell interactions, dermal papilla cells influence gene expression programs involved in hair follicle structure and signaling, including androgen receptor pathways.
Human follicle dermal papilla cells are widely used in vitro to study mechanisms of cell proliferation and cellular responses relevant to hair biology and wound healing. Because these cells express androgen receptors, they are also valuable for androgen-related research and in vitro screening of androgen-blocking reagents. Physiologically relevant culture systems are essential for reproducible experimental models using human follicle dermal papilla cells.
At PromoCell, we provide primary human follicle dermal papilla cells, along with donor information on hair and skin color upon request. We also offer low-serum growth media for follicle dermal papilla cells, enabling controlled in vitro workflows in hair follicle and skin research.
