Our Growth Supplements are produced from bovine brain tissue, originating from countries having a negligible BSE risk. The Growth Supplements are aqueous protein extracts from mixed-sex bovine hypothalami (ECGS and ECGS/H). They are especially useful for the cultivation of different types of primary human cells under serum-reduced or serum-free conditions.
Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement (ECGS) is standardized to a protein content of 3 mg/ml. ECGS/H is additionally supplemented with 22.5 mg/ml Heparin, which enhances the growth promoting effect on endothelial cells. For Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC) the optimal concentration of ECGS/H is 0.4% (v/v) in the medium supplemented with the appropriate growth factors and hormones.
