Endothelial Cell Growth Medium MV2 is a low-serum (5% V/V) medium developed for the in vitro cultivation of endothelial cells from microvascular vessels, the coronary artery, and the aorta.
Endothelial Cell Growth Medium MV2 lacks the Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement (ECGS, bovine hypothalamic extract) but contains the basic Fibroblast Growth Factor, the Insulin-like Growth Factor (Long R3 IGF-1) and the Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). Generally, VEGF leads to higher endothelial cell proliferation in culture. But, because of its multiple effects on the cell metabolism, it may also interfere with certain experimental setups. In these cases, we recommend the use of Endothelial Cell Growth Medium MV.
Although all PromoCell media are optimized for use with primary human cells, we have received feedback from customers that this particular medium can also be used for bovine, porcine, murine, rat and dog endothelial cells from microvascular vessels as well as for various endothelial cell lines.
